Campus Accommodation facilities

AIT campus has accommodation facilities for both students and employees. There are 1406 student dorm units and 373 employee units.

An appropriate housing facility for all types of students & staff who are single or married, with cooking and no cooking facility, air-conditioned or non-air conditioned. The facility also includes few disabled accommodation units to cater special needs. Dormitories are equipped with furniture, Internet facility and required maintenance services.

A student registered to doctoral, master’s, diploma, certificate or special programs and AIT faculty/staff are eligible for accommodation on campus.

Accommodation Facilities

  • Campus accommodation with air-conditioned/non air-conditioned & 53% of the units have cooking facility in rooms*
  • Provides following maintenance services
  • Electrical equipment, furniture, sanitary, building maintenance, gas delivery
  • Weekly cleaning services
  • Linen (one set) is provided to each student living in accommodation units. One set includes one pillowcase, two bedsheets, and one pillow.

Special accommodation facility for disabled

  • Accommodation suitable for disabled, wheelchair users and those needing extra space for special equipment are available (4 non-air-conditioned in Dorm C and 4 air-conditioned in Dorm X and Y)

Dorm allocation procedure

  • For new students, units are allotted to the student at the start of the semester through lottery.
  • Students can queue later for the desired room, which will be allocated as per the availability.

Accommodation rental & utilities payment

Invoice will be generated every month and will be shown in the Student Information System (SIS) and payment should be made at Accommodation Office Cashier.

  • Payable on first day of each month.
  • The first invoice will include rental for 2 months (1-month advance & 1-month rental)

Sanctions for unpaid rental and utilities:

  • Interest penalty of 1.5% per month is imposed if amount remains unpaid after 30 days.
  • If outstanding amount exceeds two-months rental, student will be required to vacate the rooms.

Remarks:

* Student village single unit can accommodate 3 students with shared bathroom and kitchen and for CAT 1, 3, 4 a bathroom is shared by 2 students.

** Dorm F has four units that are air-conditioned and has a private bathroom

*** The rental rate of the air-conditioned student village and dorm F units are higher than non-airconditioned units.

Campus Faculty/Staff Accommodation 

381 units of which 20 are faculty houses.

Categorized based on air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned, with 70 % units with cooking facility, Singles, and married.

Allocation of dorms

  • AIT faculty or staff with employment contract of duration of at least six months may apply for on-campus housing units
  • Allocation is  based on queue system

Billing 

The rent and utilities are directly deducted from salary and staff can view the details in Human Resources Information system (HRIS) through staff login.
